Prizes for Pages

Reading gets you prizes at the McMinnville Public Library. We’ll keep track of the number of pages you’ve read. Fill out a Reading Log at the upstairs Information Desk. Update us when you’ve finished a book. We’ll add pages and give you prizes as you reach each 200-page goal.

Summer Reading Suggested Reading

Want to read books about Gaming? How about on Mind & Body Wellness?  Maybe you’d prefer resources for the Sports Fanatic? These are topics specially selected for this summer’s sports-inspired Get in the Game theme.  Click this link to access the book title list. Most of these books are available to you through the CCRLS network.

Most Pages Read Contest

The person who records the most total pages read for Prizes for Pages wins $50 in Downtown Bucks. All comics, graphic novels, and manga –regardless of length – will be considered 25 pages. Keep track of your page totals in your Summer Reading Log, which will be kept at the upstairs Information Desk.

Most Days Recording Pages

The person who comes to the library and records at least  100 pages read for Prizes for Pages the most number of days wins $50 in Downtown Bucks. All comics, graphic novels, and manga – regardless of length – will be considered 25 pages. Keep track of the days you record over 100 pages in your Summer Reading Calendar, which will be kept with your pages log at the upstairs Information Desk.

Read Away Your Fines

Are fines preventing you from checking out books? Sign up for summer reading and we’ll let you check out one book.   Read 200 pages and we’ll subtract $5 off your fines. Read 400 pages and we’ll subtract an additional $5 off your fines (that’s up to $10 total). Adults can Read for Fines too, and they can subtract overdue fines from anyone in their household! Encourage them to participate!

Star Wars Party

The library awakens Wednesday, August 10th, 3:30-5:00 pm in the Carnegie Room.  Feel free to come dressed as your favorite character from the saga. Play games, eat snacks, and figure out which side you really belong to.  Space is limited, so to ensure your spot, sign up at the upstairs Information Desk beforehand.

Tween Jedi Training Party

Is the Force with you? Join us Wednesday, July 13th from 3:30-5:00 pm in the Carnegie Room. For ages 9-14. See the description for the teen Star Wars Party.  Please register beforehand at the upstairs Information Desk.

Brain Puzzlers

Try these great brain exercises to test your smarts.   A new one will be available  every other week. Get aBuy One, Get One Free Coupon from Serendipity Ice Cream for the correct answer. You’ll only need to solve one of the two puzzles to earn the prize. Look for the forms around the Teen Escape area or ask at the upstairs Information Desk.

Teen Gaming Night

Every Friday all summer long from 5:00-7:00 pm after regular library hours. Internet computers & projected console games are provided. Please feel free to bring your own video, board, or card games.  Contact Kris for details: 503-435-5572

End of Summer Raffle

Raffle tickets you earned during Prizes for Pages give you a chance to win  movies, music, books, comic books, canvas bags, & more. You’ll get these raffle tickets when you hit the 600 and 1400 page reading goals. More tickets mean more chances at prizes, as your name can be drawn multiple times! Raffle winners will be notified shortly after the end of Summer Reading.
