Reserve Police Officers are trained volunteers that are sworn in and given law enforcement authority. Some are seeking knowledge and experience to prepare them to achieve a full-time paid position. Others volunteer to show a personal commitment to the community.

The purpose of this program is to allow a property owner or manager to authorize officers to enter onto their property for the purpose of enforcing trespass laws against individuals who are trespassing on the property when there is no responsible party on site.

The McMinnville Police Department’s Honor Guard was established in 2008. The six members of the Honor Guard detail wear specially designed, formal uniforms that pay tribute to the national and state flags they bear.

Flags for our Veterans

During a recent death investigation, a McMinnville police officer discovered that the deceased was a veteran. In an effort to show respect, both to the deceased veteran and to the surviving family, this officer left the scene, purchased a national flag and returned to the residence. The flag was placed respectfully over the deceased veteran for the transport from the residence to the funeral home.
