On Wednesday December 10th from 5:30-7:00pm, the City and its partners hosted a meeting focused on rent burden causes and potential solutions.
- In 2018, the State Legislature passed HB 4006. The purpose of this legislation was to direct Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) to assess and identify cities with populations over 10,000 where greater than 25% of renter households pay more than 50% of monthly income on rent (severe rent burden), and then to notify those cities of their status.
- In 2024, McMinnville was designated as a severely-rent-burdened community for the first time.
- In 2025, McMinnville was again designated as a severely-rent-burdened community.
