City Street Closures

Weekly updates will be posted of street closures around town, in regards to maintenance, work in the right-of-way, and City projects. This list will be updated every Thursday.

Our goal is to provide you with the most accurate closure information, but please understand some closures may or may not occur due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

 

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:  MARCH 23 - MARCH 30, 2017

 

NE 5th Street Improvements Project

Work continues on the new traffic signals and pedestrian crossings along the NE 5th Street corridor between NE Lafayette Avenue and NW Adams Street. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution when using the corridor and obey traffic control devices and pedestrian detour routes for the safety of all.

 

Pavement Patching:

NW 5th Street between Adams and Birch Streets; NE Corner of 5th & Baker; SW Corner of 5th & Evans

Monday March 27th (Weather Permitting)

NW 5th Street, between Adams and Birch Streets, will be closed to through traffic intermittently while crews install pavement patches on the west side of Adams. The closure will occur between the hours of 7am-5pm. Traffic control signage will be in place and access to homes and local businesses will be maintained at all times. Traffic on Adams Street will not be impacted. Pavement patching will also take place on the NE corner of 5th & Baker and the SW corner of 5th & Evans. Traffic impacts are expected to be minor for this work.

 

Traffic signal pole wiring, equipment mounting and pedestrian push button pole installation:

NE 5th & Lafayette, NE 5th & Evans, NE 5th & Adams, NE 5th & Baker

Ongoing through March 2017   

Crews continue to work on the new traffic signals along the 5th Street corridor pulling wires and installing equipment at all four of the future signalized intersections. Intermittent, short term lane restrictions may be necessary at times between 9am-3pm.

NE Alpine Avenue Improvements

Construction on the NE Alpine Avenue Improvements Project is underway. Underground storm sewer, waterline construction and tree removal between NE 7th Ave and NE 11th Way is first on the schedule and this work is expected to continue into June. Street work will begin once the underground work is complete with an overall project completion in the Spring of 2018. Traffic control signage and detour routes will be in place throughout the Project and access to local residents and businesses will be maintained through the work zones at all times.   

 

Storm Sewer Installation and Tree Removal

Alpine Ave between NE 11th Way and 10th Ave

Thursday March 23th through Friday March 31st

Crews from Emery & Sons will be installing storm sewer piping between 11th Way and 10th Ave requiring the closure of this section of Alpine to through traffic between the hours of 7am-5pm. Traffic control signage and detour routes will be in place and access to local residents and businesses will be maintained at all times.

Tree removal on Alpine between 7th Ave and 11th Way will also get underway, but will have little impact on traffic.

 

Gas Main Relocation

Alpine Ave between NE 8th Street and NE 11th Way

Thursday Feb 23rd through Friday March 24th

Crews from Northwest Natural Gas are expecting to finish their relocation work at the intersection of 8th & Alpine on Friday March 24th. Lane restrictions on 8th Street will be necessary between the hours of 9am-3pm. Traffic control signage and flaggers will be in place.

Storage Pod on Street (1036 NE Cowls Street)

Monday, February 20th

The resident at 1036 NE Cowls Street will place a storage container along the NE 11th Street curb in front of their house on Monday, February 20th. The POD will be in place for approximately 8 weeks during a remodeling project.

Pod placement will impact parking at this location.

Street Repair

Friday, March 24th – Thursday, March 30th

City crews will be performing street repairs on the following streets:

     NE 1st St between NE Davis St and NE Evans St
     NE 1st St between NE Ford St and the Railroad Tracks

Travel lanes will be shifted to minimize the impact on traffic. If needed, lanes may be closed for brief periods of time with signs and detours posted.

     NE 12th St between NW Adams St and NE Baker St

City Crews will be closing one lane of traffic. Traffic control signs and detour routes will be in place and access to local businesses will be maintained at all times.

Sanitary Sewer & Storm Line Inspection and Cleaning

Monday, March 27 - Friday, March 31:

     Area of NE McDaniel Ln east to NE Lafayette Ave and Wortman Park south to NE 19th St.
     Traffic should not be impacted in this area, because work will not be performed on roadway.

Thursday, March 30 - Friday, March 31:

     NE Lafayette Ave from NE Highway 99W to East Wortman Park

Work hours are approximately 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

City crews will be inspecting and cleaning sanitary sewer and/or storm lines in this area.  Work includes cleaning the lines with high pressure water and TV inspection.  Traffic may be impacted due to equipment in or effecting travel lanes.  If needed, lanes may be closed for brief periods of time with signs and detours posted.  Travelers should expect delays while work is performed in these areas.

Pole Replacement (NW 14th St & NW Cedar St)

Work is tentatively scheduled for March 27th, 2017

MWL will be replacing the pole at the intersection of NW 14th St & NW Cedar St.
