City Street Closures

Weekly updates will be posted of street closures around town, in regards to maintenance, work in the right-of-way, and City projects. This list will be updated every Thursday.

Our goal is to provide you with the most accurate closure information, but please understand some closures may or may not occur due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

 

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:  MAY 25 - JUNE 1, 2017

 

OR 99W at 2nd Street Signal Replacement

Northwest Natural Gas will be relocating gas lines on 1st and 2nd Street.  Very brief lane closures are anticipated, expect workers in the area of 2nd Street between Cowls Street and Elmwood Street, and on 1st Street between Davis Street and Baker Street .

2017 Street Overlay

Handicap ramps are being constructed ahead of the grind and inlay work.  No lane closures are anticipated, expect to see workers in the area of Dunn Pl., Chalmers Way, Gilorr St., Blaine St., Melrose St. and Linke St.

ROW Permit – NW Natural Gas

Digging open trench for gas line (2nd St from NW Adams St to SW Elmwood Ave)

Work is scheduled for May 29th through June 2nd

NW Natural will be digging an open trench to place the gas line West of NW Adams St to SW Elmwood Ave. Expect lane closures from 9AM to 3PM.

NE 5th Street Improvements Project

Street Reconstruction:

NE 5th Street between Lafayette Avenue and the railroad tracks

Monday May 22nd through Friday May 26th  

Paving of the final phase of the street reconstruction of 5th Street, between Lafayette Avenue and Irvine Street, will be complete Friday, May 26th. Motorists should expect road closures to through traffic on 5th Street between Lafayette Avenue and the railroad tracks during this time. Pedestrians and motorists are urged to use caution when using the corridor and obey traffic control devices and pedestrian detour routes for the safety of all.

Crews will be striping the corridor between Adams Street and Lafayette Avenue, and on Lafayette Avenue between 8th Street and 4th Street on Friday, May 26th. Motorist can expect short term lane restrictions while crews apply the markings.

Activation of the traffic signals is scheduled for 7pm the evening of Wednesday, May 31st. Short term lane restrictions will be required when activating the signals. Signs warning motorists of traffic control revisions will be in place. All signals along the corridor are expected to be operational by 11pm.

NE Alpine Avenue Improvements

Construction on the NE Alpine Avenue Improvements Project continues.  Storm water planters are being excavated and poured along the corridor. Electrical conduit, irrigation, trellis foundations and light pole foundations are being installed. Street work between 7th & 8th will follow closely behind. Franchise utilities are busy relocating their facilities which are in conflict with the new contraction and expect to have these conflicts resolved by the end of May. The project is expected to be complete in the spring of 2018. Traffic control signage and detour routes will be in place throughout the Project and access to local residents and businesses will be maintained around the work zones at all times.  

 

Fire line work, Storm water planters, Conduit installation and Franchise Utility Relocates

Alpine Ave between 8th Street and 11th Ave

Tuesday May 30th through Friday June 2nd

Crews from McMinnville Water & Light will be installing a new fire line between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue on Tuesday, May 30th requiring the closure of this section of Alpine to through traffic.

Crews from Emery & Sons and their subcontractors will be installing electrical conduits, irrigation and pouring concrete for the new storm water planters between 8th Street and 11th Ave. requiring the intermittent closures of sections of Alpine to through traffic between the hours of 7am-5pm. Traffic control signage and detour routes will be in place and access to local residents and businesses will be maintained at all times.

Crews from Frontier Communication and McMinnville Water & Light will be installing new utility poles between 8th Street and 11th Ave  requiring the intermittent closure of  sections of Alpine to through traffic between the hours of 7am-5pm. Traffic control signage and detour routes will be in place and access to local residents and businesses will be maintained at all times.

The excavation and rocking of the street between 7th Ave and 8th Street is scheduled to begin June 1st. This block of Alpine will be closed for up to 35 days while crews complete the concrete and trellis foundation work.

Sanitary Sewer & Storm Line Inspection and Cleaning

Tuesday, May 30 - Friday, June 2:
(City offices are closed Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day)

In the area between and including the following streets:
     NE 19th St south to NE 17th St
     and NE McDonald Ln east to NE Lafayette Ave

Work hours are approximately 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

Wednesday, May 31 - Friday, June 2:
     NE Third St from NE Adams to NE Irvine St

City crew will be cleaning catch basins.  Work hours are approximately 7:00 am - 8:00 am

City crews will be inspecting and cleaning sanitary sewer and/or storm lines in this area.  Work includes cleaning the lines with high pressure water and TV inspection.  Traffic may be impacted due to equipment in or effecting travel lanes.  If needed, lanes may be closed for brief periods of time with signs and detours posted.  Travelers should expect delays while work is performed in these areas.

Work hours will be approximately 8:00am -2:30pm.

City crews will be conducting crack sealing operations in this area.  Work includes cleaning cracks, removing debris and sealing cracks with a rubberized asphalt sealant material.   There will be intermittent lane closures with flaggers, signs and detours as needed.  Travelers should expect delays with this work and are advised to see alternative routes.

Atticus Hotel Construction (Corner of NE 4th Street and NE Ford Street)

Project dates: May 1, 2017 – April 20, 2018

Crews from RH Construction will begin construction of the Atticus Hotel on the SW corner of NE 4th Street and NE Ford Street. Sidewalks and parking spaces bordering the project will be closed during the duration of the project. Sidewalk closures and pedestrian routes are to be clearly marked by the contractor.

McMinnville Downtown Farmers Market

Thursday, June 1st between 9:00am and 7:00pm

NE Cowls Street between NE 1st Street and NE 2nd Street will be closed every Thursday from
May 18, 2017 through October 12, 2017 between the hours of 9:00am-7:00pm.

Travelers should expect delays during this event and are advised to see alternative routes.
