Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was first enacted in 1990. The Act was amended in 2008 and is now known as the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA). It is a Federal Law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in employment, public accommodations and state and local government operations and services. One of the important goals of this law is to ensure that all individuals with disabilities are able to access public programs and services.
